In the district of Magura the conditions of poor people of were very deplorable. Acute poverty, diseases, malnutrition, illiteracy and unemployment were the common ways of life in the district concerned. The women were severely exploited, oppressed and deprived in the society. In addition, they were also exploited doubly i.e. man made religious-cultural exploitation and sex exploitation. Women were virtually powerless and asset less in the area. Their access to decision-making process even at family level was also limited.

Despite of it, women’s mobility and participation in outside development work was restricted.  Women were treated as physically week, psychologically emotional, mentally inconsistent and dependent on  her husband in the areas i.e. men’s superiority and women’s inferiority were the social norm. Women have to live within four walls of the family i.e. seclusion. Nevertheless, women were quite unaware about themselves. The salient features of women suffering in the area were early marriage, dowry, divorce, wife beating, and separation with minor children without maintenance also existed there. Women have to work from dawn to late night either in domestic activities, yet their contribution in economic terms towards improvement of family was unseen and unpaid. In addition, malnutrition & maternal mortality rate in the area were found higher.

beneficiaries Considering the gravity and magnitude of the problems, in 1987  Kazi Kamruzzaman, who is a well known and educated social worker in the district  and dedicated his life for the welfare of the poor women and children and with an aim to promoting  the socio-economic and cultural status of the rural poor and vulnerable women and children through conscientization, capacity building, institution building, capital formation, and imparting felt-need based problem solving programs by adopting modern scientific . a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political social development organization  was established as ROVA FOUNDATION

To work for the overall human and socio-economic development of the disadvantaged through implementing people based development programs at grass root levels

LEGAL STATUS:

To legalize Rova Foundation’s activities the organization obtained registration from concern departments of Government. The departments are follows:

 NGO Affairs Bureau- FDR -No. 635/92-04.07.1992

Quality of services is integral part of the all services intended in the projects. The project will maintain a minimum standard of its services using tools of quality improvement process (QIP) available in sector. The service providers of the proposed project have experience in QIP and uses different quality.
